On this Day tour meet your expert local guide dedicated exclusively to you and your group, at the Athens hotel or Piraeus port and depart in our fully air-conditioned vehicle and transfer you at the most important Archeological Sites of Greece? Oracle of Delphi and Meteora Monasteries 

 

DAY:1 Oracle of Delphi 

Meet your driver and your expert local licenced tour guide, after breakfast, early morning  and transfer to the most authentic and famous places in Greece. Along the way, you will see the plain of Beotia and you will also pass through the city of Thebes, the birthplace of King Oedipus.
First stop is Arachova, a popular winter destination and a breathtaking village! very close to a ski resort, made up of traditional houses and shops selling locally produced products. After spending some time in this area of serenity, drive to the ancient site of Delphi, set in a spectacular landscape. Delphi was for centuries a cultural and religious center and a symbol of unity for the Greek world, which dates to the 9th century B.C. Known as the << navel of the world >> this is the place where the Greece most important oracle. Visit this historic archaeological site with ruins dating back to the 4th century B.C. Visit the temple of Apollo where Pythia spoke to the oracles, the theatre, and the stadium. Today, Delphi is a symbol of Greek cultural unity. Then head to the Delphi Museum to see more archeological treasures, you will be able to see the famous charioteer and Gold Ivory statues, including the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer dedicated to Apollo in 478 B.C. After your guided tour continue in a local restaurant for lunch, at the modern village of Delphi with a peaceful view of the mountains of Fokis. After lunch, At the end of the day you’ll drive to Kalambaka, a lovely city with beautiful gardens and magnificent views of the Meteora rocks. Overnight in Kalambaka or Kastraki village. You will have time to take an evening walk and enjoy a local dinner.  

 

DAY:2 Meteora Monasteries

Begin a glorious morning with your local guide, you’ll head to Meteora for a tour of the fascinating  monasteries and have a closer look at the holy rocks.

The UNESCO World Heritage site is home to more than 20 rock monasteries, either perched precariously on top of Meteora’s towering sandstone cliffs or built into the cliffs themselves inside naturally formed caves. The cliffs, which average a height of 1,000 feet, were first inhabited in the 9th century by a group of hermit monks who lived on the rock towers. Today 6 monasteries remain out of the original 20. Meteora combines natural beauty and cultural heritage- a fact that makes them a unique destination between the world’s monuments. Have lunch at Kalabaka and head towards Athens- the last stop.

Visit the battlefield of Thermopylae en route, to complete the visit you will see the statue of Leonidas standing right opposite Kolonos Hill where the persisting Spartans left their last breath. Drop-off in Athens.
